Expert Care For Your Kids

Get To Know Dr. Ankur Gandhi

Dr. Gandhi is a board certified pediatric dentist with a passion for creating a fun and stress-free environment for every child's dental visit. He grew up in Los Angeles, in the suburban city of Cerritos. After high school, he embarked on his educational journey here at UC San Diego and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Human Biology. He then continued on to UC San Francisco for dental school, where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Due to his positive experiences working with children in dental school, and his light hearted and fun personality, pursuing pediatric dentistry was the next perfect step for him! Dr. Gandhi further pursued his education in New York at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. During his 2 year specialty residency training in pediatric dentistry, Dr Gandhi rotated through several different hospitals and clinics, which allowed him to gain experience in all aspects of his field.

Dr. Gandhi is committed to creating a positive experience for all of his patients by making everyone feel welcome. His goal is to provide personalized dental care for all families, and to educate his patients on the importance of disease prevention. He is a firm believer in collaborating as a team with patients and their parents on how to improve and maintain excellent oral health. Dr. Gandhi always treats his patients the same way he would treat his own children - with care, respect, and compassion, all while throwing in a few funny jokes for laughs!

Dr. Gandhi is extremely excited to be serving his community and welcoming families to his practice. He loves to learn and stay updated on new research in dentistry so he can provide quality care for his patients. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and exploring San Diego. He loves trying new foods, traveling, hiking, and playing basketball, pickleball, golf, and board games!

What To Expect

During Your Child’s First Visit

Our team will welcome you and your child into our office, and you may need to fill out a few forms if you haven’t filled them out online. Your child can relax and enjoy the games and puzzles in our play area until it’s time for their appointment.

Then, we’ll bring you and your child back to one of our rooms. You can choose to stay in the waiting area or come back to the operatory with your child. One of our team members will take any indicated X-rays and then clean your child’s teeth.

After their cleaning, Dr. Gandhi will come in and meet your child. He will review their X-rays and perform an oral exam to make sure their teeth look healthy. We will discuss proper oral hygiene and healthy dietary habits, provide anticipatory guidance, and answer any questions you may have. This will ensure their teeth are well taken care of!

If your child’s smile is healthy, you will schedule their next routine six month check-up visit. If there is an issue, Dr. Gandhi will discuss treatment options with you. Together, we can develop a plan to restore your child’s smile and oral health.

What to Bring

You will need to bring your insurance card, a method of payment, and any medical records or lists of medications your child is taking, if applicable.

If your child is nervous, it can also help to bring some activities for them to do, or a comfort item like a blanket or a stuffed toy. Whatever makes them feel comfortable is welcome at our office!
